It is housed in a pencil like tube. I actually thought it was a automatic/retractable jumbo pencil but prepare yourself as you need to sharpen this. The bottom part of the lip is the shade indicator.

Because i was just wondering if it is really possible to sharpen its plastic tube container. I also have the same product, but different shade though i have the 009 & 016 shades.
