CONTOURING VS STROBING (TOO FACED)

If you are a fan of western makeup like I am for sure you're very familiar with contour and highlight/strobe. Today, I will feature these Too Faced products from Sephora PH. You can check out the link HERE. These two products are both best sellers from their site. It is the Too Faced Sweet Peach Glow and Too Faced Cocoa Contour. We all know that the TOO FACED is a high end brand so we'll see if it's worth your spend.
First, let's talk about the Too Faced Cocoa Contour - - click here for direct link. It retails for PhP 2,389.00. Cocoa Contour gives you the power to enhance your most beautiful features and minimize the ones you want to hide in a few simple steps. This curated kit comes with the two essential sculpting shades, the perfect matte highlighter, and a luminous Cocoa Glow for a contoured look that never looks flat. Infused with the antioxidant-rich Exclusive Cocoa Complex, the powders blend seamlessly and indulge you with a decadent chocolate scent. Features a Contour Buki Brush for the most professional sculpting effect.
Benefits:
  • Universal set contains all the shades needed to take the guesswork out of contouring, sculpting and highlighting
  • Exclusive Cocoa Complex is a proprietary blend of antioxidant-rich cocoa powder and moisturizing cocoa butter that work together to hydrate and smooth skin and boost your mood.
  • Includes signature Glamour Guide with three contour looks to get you started.
  • Too Faced Co-Founder & Chief Creative Officer Jerrod Blandino was inspired to infuse antioxidant-rich cocoa in makeup while getting a chocolate facial at a Hawaiian spa. He learned of chocolate’s benefits to the skin and included the ingredient in Too Faced’s best-selling products.
  • Shade Descriptions: Cocoa Butter Matte Banana Yellow, Medium Mocha Matte Warm Neutral Brown, Deep Mocha Matte Deep Brown, Cocoa Glow Soft Peach Shimmer
Contouring is the means to give more dimension in your face. It gives a slimmer or sculpt look. When it comes to contouring, I only think of Kim Kardashian. I think she's the Queen of contour. Inside the box, there's a guide/ how to use the palette. The palette has 4 pans called Light Cocoa, Medium Cocoa, Dark Cocoa and Pop Of Light. It also has an angled kabuki brush!
Medium Cocoa and Dark Cocoa are for sure the shades for contouring and Light Cocoa is a matte highlighter and Pop Of Light is a shimmer highlighter if you don't like that flat matte look but it's not a blinding highlighter. Just a luminous effect. The other powders are pigmented. They're not also powdery and has a buttery texture. Of course, the smell is so nice. It really smells like cocoa and chocolate. That's quite a bonus for me.
Chiseled to perfection
Next, Too Faced Sweet Peach Glow. You can shop here. This one retails for PhP 2,531.00. It is an illuminating, blushing and bronzing palette infused with the juicy, skin-loving essence of peach.
What it does:
Give your face a radiant, natural peach glow with Sweet Peach Glow Kit. The trio of buildable powders includes a soft blush, bronzer and highlighter that complement all skin tones and capture the radiance of the sunset to bathe your skin in golden light. Each is infused with the essence of peach for a sweet, juicy scent.

Highlighting/Strobing is the counter part of contouring. The highlighting trick is to emphasize and highlight those area that catches the light. The areas which actually needed to be strobe are brow bone area, bridge of the nose, high points of cheeks and cupid's bow. Anyway, the Too Faced Sweet Peach Glow kit has 3 pans. It has an illuminating, blushing and bronzing powder. The illuminating powder is the more blinding one while the blush and bronzer also have glows in it but they're very settle and not too glowy. Yes, just like the Cocoa Contour this kit also has scent and goes by its name. It smells like sweet peaches.

lipstick: WNW Megalast lipstick in JUST PEACHY

If you were to ask me, if what will I choose? I actually like to do both contouring and strobing. I think they are partners for life. I need contouring to give my face a slimmer look and I also love highlighting to give glow and radiance to my skin. The question is, it is worth it? If you are in a tight budget or you could only spend for 1 then go for the Cocoa Contour kit but if you have the means to buy both then purchase the two! It's worth it and definitely on your to-spend/to-buy list.

  1. Love the contour powder, I'm not good at contouring and it's good that Too Face contour is powder matte ^^
